A fierce number-cruncher and relentless advocate for working people, Angella MacEwen has been drafting Green New Deal-type legislation in Canada before the Green New Deal was ever a thing. Running in Ottawa Centre, where Catherine McKenna served as Justin Trudeau’s environment minister at the same time as the Prime Minister bought the Trans Mountain pipeline, MacEwen has a real shot of winning the riding as a climate champion. An economist for CUPE and the Canadian Labour Congress who has worked with the $15 and Fairness campaign and the Green Economy Network,, MacEwen would fight for the kind of bold action we need, and send a message that climate voters are sick and tired of this government saying one thing about climate change, then doing another.
