An Indigenous lawyer from Wauzhushk Onigum Nation, Janine will be a strong voice for Indigenous rights and climate action in Ottawa, and has a great chance of unseating Conservative Eric Melillo. In 2019, Melillo opposed climate measures like carbon pricing, recently changing his stance to back Erin O’Toole’s climate plan, which doesn’t align with Canada’s climate targets nor meeting a safe 1.5ºC limit on warming.
