An activist and documentary filmmaker, Paul was first elected in a 2019 by-election, and then re-elected in the general election later that year. During the last Parliament, he was a dogged voice on climate, challenging Liberal climate delay and proposing legislation to rein in fossil fuel expansion. In late 2020 he tabled a bill to ban coal exports from Canada and presented a number of climate motions, including M-90, which called for a federal fracking ban in Canada.
We have endorsed Paul Manly as a Defending Champion. Defending Champions are incumbent candidates who, over the course of the last parliamentary session, did the most to champion the kind of climate action we need to see.
We need all hands on deck to ensure Paul Manly is elected for another term in office. Sign up to join the climate voters alliance to support Paul Manly in Nanaimo—Ladysmith.
